Almond Cake

If you're looking for a buttery, rich, dense, great with a cup of coffee kind of cake...look no further!

My aunt sent me this recipe and while my Grandma was visiting we put it to work. Grandma made this beautiful cake.

The ingredients are few and it's easy to assemble if you're short on time.

You won't be disappointed!

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 eggs
1/2 lb. butter (2 cubes)
slivered almonds

Separate one of the yolks and set aside.  Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, almond extract, remaining eggs (1 egg + 1 white), and butter in a mixer.

Press into a 10-inch pan (use a Springform pan if you have one).

Brush top with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with almonds over the top.  Bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.  Cut into cute triangle wedges.

Enjoy!
